VENUE OF THE WEEK🏡🏡🏡
The remarkable St Stephen’s Church, located in Hampstead, North West London. This Grade I listed building is a real hidden treasure, the venue only recently re-opened to the public after a 30 year hiatus and we are so grateful that they’re back available for hire. The main room is truly stunning, with a maximum capacity of 250 guests, a truly special setting for a wedding but also capable of hosting conferences, awards dinners and other corporate functions. A winner of the ‘Heritage Angel Award’ for championing local heritage, St Stephen’s is a really rare gem and certainly worth a look when planning your next event.
Get in touch if you’d like to have a look around.
Park Village Studios can be found sitting happily on the edge of Regents Park, two minutes stroll from Camden Town tube station. A collection of production studios by nature and very popular for high profile photo shoots and the filming of big brand adverts or music videos. For that reason each space has its own unique layout, lighting, furniture and most importantly personality, offering uniqueness and opportunity for a huge array of clients in that field. 🎥📸🎬
As a result, their events team now have a really exciting collection of spaces to offer to us. With Park Village Studios being fairly new to the events sector, many #eventprofs may not have come across these spaces in that capacity, so could be a really exciting option for you. Three independent spaces the biggest of which, Studio One can accommodate up to 200 standing or 140 gala dinner style, with the Billiard Room capable of holding as many as 70 standing and it’s a really nice space for private parties or canapé receptions.
Say hello to Studio Spaces. For those of you who haven’t heard of them just yet, ‘Spaces’ is one of the most exciting dry hire venues we have come across. It’s absolutely perfect for all day conferences (DDR), with three independent event spaces all offering different lighting, shape and overall character. The rooms can be hired individually or as a package which provides delegates with the added benefit of having breakout areas.
It is also a popular wedding venue and has amazing potential on that front, particularly for creative couples with a vision for their big day. Their production team can assist in pulling together all the details, helping to bring your vision to life.
The largest of the three spaces, The Warehouse is capable of holding dinners for up to 200 but as a combined venue there is capacity for much much more.

Looking back on another special year for our family business, one in which we achieved things that we could only dream of when it all began in 1989. Notably being highly commended for caterer of the year by @eventmag and critics choice @squaremealvande in the canapé cup.
It’s no coincidence that our success this year coincides with this incredibly talented chef and all round amazing person @rhiannonb89 joining the family, almost exactly one year ago.
We are proud to call Rhiannon our head chef, her passion, creativity and outrageous work ethic has improved us so much as a team and helped us deliver some unbelievable catering. There’s a reason why she was the youngest female executive chef in London and why she was recently named in the top 100 most influential event professionals by Event Magazine.
For any business to achieve longevity, you must always raise the bar, constantly improve the offering and continuously find new ways to impress the consumer.
The key to that is recruiting the right people, who buy into the vision, bring new ideas and most importantly uphold the same high standards.
Hiring Rhiannon is a perfect example of a company nailing that brief and we are looking forward to many more years with her on board.
‘Shipwrecked on a cannibal island’
“Make it immersive they said”
Well if grabbing a large spoon and diving head first into a shipwreck of desserts isn’t immersive, we must’ve misunderstood the brief. Oh yes, that is an edible beach.
If you want creativity, first you need passion, you need to see your craft in everything. We love food, but even more than that we love bringing to life our ideas in a way that compliment the visions of those we work with.
That word “bespoke” is thrown around too often but if you truly want something that’s not on the menu and have a vision that can be brought to life through food (and Heston isn’t around), give us a shout. We’re pretty good at this stuff.
Meet our new Sales and Events Manager, Priya Narain. We’ve known her for a while and have always thought that she would be a great asset to our team if ever we had the opportunity to bring her on board. She has an exceptional knowledge of the events world and a passion for networking, but most of all we’ve always thought that Priya embodies the ethos and motives that drive our family business. Deliver unforgettable service, avoid saying ‘no’ as much as humanly possible, work hard but make it look easy and smile while you do it. She’s a brilliant addition to the family and we are lucky to have her. Welcome.
As Directors of a catering company we have supplied hundreds of weddings and we’ve attended quite a few as well, in fact once or twice we’ve even supplied and attended the same wedding. In our experience, one thing that is universally apparent is that very few people realise just how much the caterer actually does. I don’t think anyone really believes that we simply turn up, serve the food and then leave, but there is always a sense of surprise when we meet with couples and they see how much is already taken care of as part of the catering package. The question is: what is standard and what is going the extra mile?
Let’s start with the basics, you must offer a tasting. Different caterers will have different policies on this but we do NOT charge for tastings, why would you charge for the opportunity to showcase the one thing that you are supposed to be good at?
Following the tasting there are several responsibilities that we take on as the caterer and that includes, but is in no way limited to:
• Conducting a venue site visit to visualise the day and determine the layout, timings, colour schemes etc.
• Being in frequent contact with the bride/groom to iron out details
• Offering support and advice at all stages of planning (not necessarily limited to food and beverage)
• Giving clear instructions about what is required from the couple (guest list, table plan, dietary requirements etc.)
• Where possible, making sure the original point of contact (catering manager) is present at all stages, including the day itself. If not, handing it over as early as possible to the manager that will be there
• Informing the overall timetable based on our knowledge of how long things take (again not just limited to food and beverage service)
• Liaising with Ushers/Best men on the day and making sure everything stays on schedule (all activities affect the catering, including delays in photographs, speeches etc. so we must make sure the day stays on track)
• Serving amazing food, seamlessly, on time and with a smile
• Being there until the last guest has left the building, then clearing the venue and leaving it as we found it
Now that’s just the basics and we certainly wouldn’t say that the responsibilities of the caterer are limited to those seven bullet points, but when you are already doing all of those things, how do you go the extra mile? The key thing from our point of view is to be flexible. Many couples will see their wedding as their Sistine Chapel, they are painting their masterpiece and they want to be in charge of the brush strokes, and rightly so. Now that might mean that they want a sharing menu instead of a plated three course, or it might mean they want to create an afternoon tea room, dress the chefs up in bakers hats and cover them in flour for the evening to serve the desserts. To go the extra mile is to say ‘yes’ to as many of these things as possible. That’s what makes a wedding special and that’s how you make couples feel like they’re Michelangelo. Yes it’s easier from a business and logistical perspective to stick to the three course set menu blueprint. However, it’s way better if you say ‘yes!’ when a bride asks for her wedding breakfast to be a feast of themed food stalls from around the globe, or when the couple want you to recreate the menu from the restaurant where they had their first date. Yes this means that you will have to work a bit harder, but it also means that you will make special memories for your customers, which is exactly why we started doing this in the first place.
As birthday parties go, this one was up there! All the suppliers went to town with their contributions and ISES members showed up in force to wish Happy Birthday to the mother hen. In fairness you can hardly fail to throw a party in The Loft, one of EggLDN’s many versatile event spaces (@EggEventsLondon www.egglondon.co.uk/corporate). There’s a reason this venue has won multiple Cool Venue awards. We’ve known it for ages but everyone else is starting to find out just how special EggLDN is as a corporate event space. A special mention to the Off To Work team who had a strong presence on the dance floor and also provided some of their fabulous waiting staff to serve our food. As always they were switched on, proactive and full of smiles. Fat Unicorn (what a name by the way) were making dreams come true, cropping us into pictures with our childhood idols using their “green thing.” Obviously the Boulevard team had a snap with S-Club 7, then Mark spent the rest of the night trying to dance like Bradley, however Lowell Cabual of Classico Productions stole the show on that front, I digress…
It was, as always, fantastic to see so many friends and colleagues from around the events world and the vast majority of networking took place as part of a dance-off circle #SHAPES. The most influential shapes award goes to Jason ‘@Penthouselord’ Allan Scott. Special mention to Elena Clowes (@ElenaClowes), Operations Manager of ISES UK, for her exceptional song requests which helped to make the above networking possible.
As for the catering, we decided to test out our new fine dining menus as bowl food portions which really went down a storm. The rabbit croquette with celeriac and butternut squash puree had #eventprofs clambering over each other for seconds. The most popular canapé, by far, was the honey glazed pork belly with black pudding and sour apple puree, comments included, but were not limited to, “the best thing I’ve ever eaten” (Mark Allen, Head of Event Sales for Arcelormittal). Considering it was up against the 2014 winner of the Square Meal Canapé Cup, that’s quite the statement. Maybe we should put that forward for this year’s competition?
The show stopper, however, was without doubt the dessert station. As with the Halloween party of 2015, we pulled out all the stops for everyone’s favourite course. The ISES birthday cake was a giant version of our 00Heaven canapé, the 2015 Square Meal Canapé Cup winner (yes we’ve won it twice in a row, didn’t we tell you?). This was surrounded by the canapé itself as well as giant martini glass baileys, honeycomb and homemade aero sundaes. Check out the picture! The banana split was provided by the legendary Lowell Cabual, which you can see on his twitter page(@lowellcabual).
Thanks again to all who attended and to everyone who made it a night to remember, can’t wait for the 16th birthday!
Sadly we missed out on the shenanigans at Gilgamesh last month but never mind because we are catering for the highly anticipated ISES 15th birthday tonight and we plan on making it extra special.
Not only will we be transforming our triumphant canapé cup 2015 entry (00Heaven) into a giant birthday cake, we will be rolling out 2014s winner (The Hunter’s Gathering) and two of the contenders for this year’s entry will be circulating the room as well. All feedback is welcome and appreciated as we would love to beat our good friends over at Eden to the hat-trick in 2016.
In additional to the above, we have transformed our newly launched fine dining menus into bowl food portions for tonight’s special occasion, so it’s safe to say that all stops have been well and truly pulled out to celebrate our friends’ big day.
The anticipation has been too much for some #eventprofs, who have been in touch asking about tonight’s menu, so we thought we would give you a little teaser…
The Hunters’ Gathering – Winning Canapé of the Square Meal Canapé Cup 2014: Smoked venison with wild mushroom, celeriac and truffle puree, pancetta, fresh blackberry and a sweet Rioja jus collected in a crisp potato basket
00Heaven – Winning Canapé of the Square Meal Canapé Cup 2015:
Chocolate delice on a salted caramel and chocolate crackling base, baileys mousse with fresh strawberry, chocolate soil and honeycomb, finished with dehydrated strawberry
Seared peppered mackerel, sweetcorn fritter, cauliflower coral
Honey glazed pork belly, black pudding, toasted mustard seeds, sour apple puree, apple crisps
Coconut and coriander dhal on a poppadum, green mango and coconut
We will keep the bowls a secret for now, something should be left to the imagination ;)… see you tonight!
The ISES Halloween party obviously didn’t fail to deliver, how could it? With so many amazing suppliers throwing their skills into the mix! The Bloomsbury Ballroom, one of London’s most exquisite corporate events venues, played host, so quite naturally Boulevard was put in charge of the catering, and we really went to town with a whole host of themed creations. Check out the hashtag #ISESHalloween for some of the highlights. Jackie at Partridge Events also did a fabulous job of planning the whole bash, another talented eventprof who really knows her craft and did an exceptional job. Also involved were the vibrant chaps from Exquisite Cocktails offering ‘exactly what it says on the tin’ and serving, quite literally… Exquisite Cocktails. While London Hair and Beauty had the whole party looking Ghoulgeous! Not to mention the WamBam team, led by lady Alex herself, who brought a spectacle of cabaret entertainment to the proverbial table. With that ‘mash-up’ of talent, it was always going to be an absolute home run of an event, and we simply cannot wait for next year.
The Boulevard team were exhibiting again last week at the annual Square Meal Venues and Events show and, as always, it was amazing to see so many of our favourite people in the industry. Suppliers, clients, colleagues and competitors alike, it was such a pleasure to be around so many like-minded and talented individuals.
Once again the Square Meal team didn’t fail to deliver this year, laying on a fabulous exhibition. The show seems to grow and improve year on year and we are certain that it must’ve been a prosperous event for all involved, with some amazing contacts made on both sides of the coin. Another team that didn’t fail to deliver was the Boulevard Events brigade, led by Adam Neale, successfully retaining the Canapé Cup crown from 2014. The Hunter’s Gathering made way for this year’s winner – 00Heaven, inspired by James Bond’s Spectre and bringing together; chocolate, strawberry, caramel, baileys and honeycomb into one delectable bite. By all accounts it was a “landslide” victory, with many of the judges taking to twitter to compliment and congratulate us.
Thank you so much to all who voted for us and if you’re planning a catering event that you think would be enhanced by some award winning canapés, both the 2014 and 2015 winners are now on our menus. So please don’t hesitate to give us a call, we’d be delighted to put a proposal together for you.
Looking forward to catching up with you all soon and hopefully see you next year for the Hat-trick

WOW what can we say!
England Ladies Hockey Team – Champions of Europe. It makes us immensely proud to say that we catered, not only for all of the VIPs, media, officials, broadcasters and volunteers, but also for the athletes of such an epic event. The European Hockey Championships, held at one of our favourite venues The Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre and a stone’s throw away from our premises in Hackney Wick, took place last week and wasn’t it just awesome!
The ladies team brought home the proverbial bacon, beating the champions of the past nine years, The Netherlands in the final and, in doing so, became one of very few examples of success in English team sport, of recent years. We are so proud to say that we were able to feed these legends all week, as well as all of the other athletes who competed. Each day, in addition to the post-match team meals, Boulevard also catered for four tiers of hospitality, all of the media/broadcasting contingent and referees as well as lunch and dinner for the 300 or so amazing volunteers, who gave up their time to contribute to the success of the event.
It was a huge overall success and England Hockey will now be looking forward to the World Championships and World League events over the coming years. Once again an amazing spread of hospitality will be available, offering several options at varying price-points. From smaller, intimate and super VIP lounges, serving four course meals including the likes of fillet steak and thrice cooked chips, to bigger spaces for sports clubs or large work outings serving up award winning bowl food or carveries and homemade pies.
The combination of a Championship winning England team and award winning food really isn’t one to be missed, so keep your eyes peeled for the various hospitality packages when they go on sale in the new year.

Isabel and Sue tied the knot at the impeccable Old Finsbury Town Hall last weekend, celebrating their day with 150 close friends and family. Certainly one of the stand-out weddings of the summer so far, guests were treated to an array of interactive food stations and bowl food, sandwiched by two servings of our award winning canapés. There was live pasta making where chefs rolled out fresh tortellini to order, a traditional seafood stand with roaming fish and chip cones and an ice cream trike serving up various delicious and refreshing flavours in sweet waffle cones. The formalities of a seated three-course meal were out the window for this one and guests were free to roam the great hall and tuck into the vast range of food on offer. The Boulevard Shepherd’s pie with confit lamb shoulder and butter potato was a huge hit on the classic food station, as was the king prawn cocktail at the seafood bar, but it was the atmosphere that really shone.
“We had a fabulous day, made all the better because of the quality of the food and the engagement from the guests into the different food stations, so overall a great success!”
Sue Ticquet, Bride

The Intelligence Squared Digital Summit for Vanity Fair held at the wonderful Shoreditch Town Hall trended No 2 in UK on Twitter. With speakers like Jeremy Paxton and Martha Lane Fox this proved to be a massive sell out and a huge success. We were honoured to be part of the package providing refreshment through the day for attendees, staff and the all-important Green Rooms. The 200 guests at the post event reception were treated to our Award winning canapés including parmesan crusted lamb and our homemade pasta tortellini of wild mushroom, vermouth and white wine sauce.

What a fantastic atmosphere event catering for 300 VIPs on track center for Sir Bradley’s world record attempt at the one hour distance, live on Sky Sports 2, at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s Velodrome. Guests included Dave Brailsford (founder of team sky and director of GB cycling) as well as the Wiggin’s family. The man himself smashed the previous record by over two kilometers and made history in the process.
A feast of carved meats and fresh, healthy salads, roast potatoes and cured meats and cheeses as part of the hot and cold deli. A full afternoon tea stand was also laid on, with fresh scones and clotted cream, pavlovas, chocolate delice, brownies and poached pear tarte tatin on offer. In addition, our award winning bowl food was circulating on trays throughout the evening, consisting of, among a selection of others, fillet of beef, thrice cooked chips and béarnaise sauce. The theming of all furniture and service stations was also taken care of by the multitalented Boulevard Events team with great feedback from the event organisers.
“Sincere thanks to you all, your wonderful chef and the team of staff, for providing an excellent hospitality service yesterday, there has been many, many compliments on the food as well as the monkfish recipe!
Great feedback on the atmosphere in the track center too, the seating dynamic worked and it looked excellent on TV” Sharon Ely XIX Entertainment

Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins will be peddling for a World Record for the one hour distance on 7th June at the impeccable Lee Valley VeloPark. The Boulevard team will be cheering him on whilst working our catering magic in the hospitality area, on track centre. As many as 400 including the Wiggins family will gather in the heart of the track to watch ‘Wiggo’ go for the record, which stands at 52.49km. Many think he can put it ‘out of sight’ for as long as twenty years if he’s at his best. As far as the catering is concerned, guests will enjoy an array of bowl food from our award winning menus. There will also be a hot deli on offer for guests to grab a freshly carved sandwich while they watch the action. It’s such an exciting occasion and we are simply delighted and honoured to be involved. Bring on the 7th June, Go Wiggo!

One of our weddings has been featured in the prestigious wedding blog ‘Love my Dress.’ Dominique and Jody, an amazing couple who married at The Old Finsbury Town Hall (one of our personal favourite London wedding venues) back in June, have showcased their big day and it really makes a fantastic read (http://www.lovemydress.net/blog/2015/02/bridesmaids-in-peach-wrist-corsage-1950s-vintage-wedding-dress-finsbury-town-hall-london.html). It really was a stunning wedding and we are honoured to have been involved.

We are absolutely delighted to be working with The Dutch Hall, a stunning new venue in the heart of London’s financial district. This hidden gem is incredibly central, yet secluded, located on Austin Friars and away from the busy roads. In fact it is just a few minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Bank Underground Stations. A Grade II listed building with three event spaces, which can be used individually or in combination offering great flexibility and versatility for a wide range of events. It is an absolute pleasure to be added to their list of preferred caterers, following our first catering event there this month, and we are really excited about the prospect of catering many more events there this year.
Wow! What a whirlwind year 2014 was. It was a special year for Boulevard Event Catering in more ways than one, the standout event surely being our Canapé Cup win at Square Meal’s Venues and Events show. We cannot wait to show you all what we’ve got up our sleeve for 2015’s competition. We also catered for more Weddings than ever before with 23 couples choosing Boulevard for their special day, check out our new Testimonials section to see what they had to say, http://www.boulevardevents.co.uk/testimonials/. As a result of the feedback and unbelievable compliments we received from these happy couples we were shortlisted for The Wedding Industry Awards Caterer of The Year Award, another proud moment for us.
A special mention has to go to The Bloomsbury Ballrooom, it has been an absolute pleasure being the first choice caterer at this incredible venue and working with all of their fantastic staff. We are extremely excited to continue our relationship into 2015 and beyond.
Finally thank you to all of the unbelievable Boulevard Team for their tireless work throughout 2014, we hope you are well rested and ready for another year of creating exceptional food and events.
We’re not usually ones to name drop, and our job certainly gives us the opportunity to do so, but we couldn’t resist telling you about catering for Sir Bruce Forsyth’s birthday. The BBC hosted a party before, during and after the great entertainer’s 80th birthday tribute show, which we were honoured to provide the catering for. As you can imagine, there was a need for drinks, for champagne and fresh fruit cocktails as well as a selection of canapés and bowl food.
It was a fantastic occasion to be involved with and we remained professional despite the presence of a large number of celebrities, many of whom we had grown up watching! Needless to say, an array of Play Your Cards Right puns were unleashed behind the scenes throughout, not that our guests would ever have known!
We have been attending the Square Meal Venues & Events for a little while now but, until this year, the coveted Canapé Cup Competition had always eluded us. However, with this being our 25th year we had a feeling that perhaps this would be our moment, which it turned out to be! Adam really pulled it out the bag with his Hunter’s Gathering canapé which, as the name would suggest, was assembled using a variety of items from the forest. An ensemble featuring celeriac and truffle puree, wild mushroom, fresh black berry, pancetta and a tender fold of venison was all presented within a crisp potato basket to which a sweet Rioja reduction provided the finishing touch.
The competition saw a total of 300 hundred judges taste canapés from us and our competitors and we were delighted to come out on top. Having seen the quality being delivered by other entrants, we are incredibly proud of our achievement to win such a hotly contested Canapé Cup.
Adam is an incredibly talented chef and a remarkably creative thinker when it comes to developing new and exciting dishes for our events; we’re really lucky to have him!
This year brought with it another exciting opportunity as we found ourselves rubbing shoulders with one of the biggest names in the fashion world.
Ian Stuart launched his flagship store in London which included his brand new collection of ready-to-wear collection wear, evening wear and a selection of bridal gown this summer and, of course, needed an event that would match his incredible range as he welcomed it into the world.
We were fantastically proud to be selected to cater for this event and, as most of you will know, weddings for a large part of our overall business so to be involved with a such a prestigious designer of wedding gowns made this event all the more important.
There were nearly 200 guests who arrived to see the unveiling (no pun intended) of Mr Stuart’s wedding dresses and other spectacular creations so we marked to occasion with a creation of our own. A variety of delectable desert canapés were accompanied by the Blewcoat Martini; a cocktail named after the stunning, historic Blewcoat building in which the event was held.
Needless to say that cocktail as well as the canapés were very well received and this went down as being one of our favourite events of the year for not only the magnitude of the launch but also because of the honour we had of catering in such a remarkably beautiful building.
This was one way that we have been able to give back to the community in a way that simply would not have been possible had we not expanded in the way that we have since 1988. We designed a complete work experience package that featured a work book and structured learning techniques including knife skills and food hygiene.
Over 80 young people have honed their catering skills as they have passed through the Boulevard kitchens (watch our Adam!) and this is one highlight of our 25 years that we are so proud of.
The project was recognised as we won the Inspire Award, an award voted for by young people themselves and we like to think that this is testament to our commitment to ensuring that there is an outlet for young people that we will encourage wherever possible.
As you know, we catered for Bruce Forsyth’s birthday and the BBC must have been pleased with our work as it led to a number of other bookings with them during the year that followed.
Our family have always been huge supporters of the Sports Relief initiative run by the BBC every year and, generally, if the family love it – Boulevard love it! This is why, when we were subsequently taken on to provide the catering for Sports Relief we were not just honoured by the size of the event but also incredibly proud to be associated with such a wonderful cause.
The event went magnificently but, unfortunately, it was one of the last jobs that we would carry out for the BBC as the financial meltdown forced their hand into making a number of budgetary cuts.
That is a shame, but we are extremely grateful to have so many great memories of such spectacular events that we were able to make our own mark on.
One of many ‘swan moments’ we have experienced over the 25 years – floating elegantly on the surface while paddling furiously underneath. We were asked to provide a full English breakfast for LB Tower Hamlets in one of our favourite venues that we have ever catered – Tower Bridge! Unfortunately, as scenic, beautiful and rich in history as it is, there was one consideration that had we spent the morning working against; you cannot stop on the bridge!
This led to a whirlwind of trolley pushing and dinner laying as food was transported along the bridge and up the lifts to where it was being served. Difficult, yes, but things were about to get a lot more frantic when the power surge left us without power for a large section of the morning! Calm heads and a good amount of experience under our belt meant we could put on a seemingly unfazed outlook while at the same time battling a rather tempting urge to panic and run! As I said, a swan moment! Fortunately the event continued as planned despite this blip and is now a memory we look back on very fondly.

We have had an exciting few weeks preparing for the capital’s biggest catering events exhibition at Old Billingsgate. As part of the annual Square Meal Venues and Events show, 300 judges tasted canapés from a selection of London’s caterers and ranked their favourites. It’s one canapé per caterer so the finished article has to be spot on to stand a chance and our Executive Chef Adam and his team certainly pulled that off. The Hunter’s Gathering, a delicious congregation of items from the forest, was the judges’ favourite and saw Boulevard crowned Canapé Cup Champions of 2014. Celeriac and truffle puree, wild mushroom, fresh black berry, pancetta and a tender fold of venison all collected in a crisp potato basket and finished off with a sweet Rioja reduction. The Hunter’s Gathering was subject to a number of tasting sessions before Adam had finally perfected it but the effort was certainly worthwhile.
We were also exhibiting at Square Meal alongside our partners The Bloomsbury Ballroom, with whom we are offering some exceptional Christmas packages (please contact Adam Quigley – firstname.lastname@example.org). Coincidentally our neighbours at SM14 were the lovely Eden Caterers who have won the competition for the past two years and as they weren’t involved this year, of course, the ‘fighting talk’ was in full flow after our win. Things are certainly looking interesting for 2015’s competition.
At the end of a busy day during which we had set up our stand, met plenty of wonderful new people and prepared over 600 canapés we were delighted with result and already have the cogs turning for next year.
Hats off to Adam for his relentless work in creating this masterpiece and to the rest of the caterers in the competition who really did create an amazing range of incredible canapés, making it such a tight competition.
If anybody would like to sample The Hunter’s Gathering for an upcoming event, we are adding it to our canapé menu so drop us an email and we’d be happy to invite you for a tasting email@example.com

Boulevard is celebrating an important landmark in its rich history as 2014 sees the 25th anniversary of our second-generation family business. Since 1989, Boulevard has shifted from a small restaurant, hugely popular with the local community to a full events catering service, still a force within Hackney but having extended its reach across the capital.
One thing that has remained a mainstay in its remarkable evolution, however, is the family ethos. Siblings, Dan, Keran and Mark, along with Executive Chef Adam took over Boulevard some years back, taking it from strength to strength.
25 years on and Boulevard still receives requests from, and is still in contact with customers from the original Boulevard restaurant in Victoria Park. It is the ability to maintain this level of personal care that separates Boulevard from many other catering companies. However, Boulevard has also proved it can mix it with the biggest events caterers in the business recently providing catering for the launch of fashion designer Ian Stuart’s flagship store in London and in the Olympic year of 2012 laying on a three course banquet dinner for 2000 at Vespa World Days and 10,000 meals for the Olympic security team throughout the Games.
Whether providing event catering on the Cutty Sark or for the 80th Birthday of Sir Bruce Forsythe, Boulevard has a history that’s compelling, exciting and authentic.
Hard work and conviction have seen Boulevard enjoy record business during this momentous year, but what you can always be sure of is that it is delivered with as much passion as when we started out.

Sharing menus and food stalls are increasingly the order of the day where guests can make their own selections and are also entertained. Mark Maher of Boulevard Events in East London says, “People like to move around and make their own choices, the sharing menus and food stalls prove to be great fun and allow people to circulate and interact more. It’s also a neat work around on the dreaded seating plan which so many couples can anguish over for fear of offending.”
Mark adds, “Almost anything is possible we’ve just catered an ‘Enchanted’ themed party with a Hansel & Gretel ginger bread cake as the centre piece of an entirely edible dessert station as well as a wedding with live pasta making and a Mexican wrap stand. We are able to provide any number of food stations each manned by our chefs allowing people to mingle, ask questions and eat what they want when they want. The food ultimately becomes a real feature of the wedding and guests really do .”
Informality does not compromise quality or how delicious the food is and here are just some samples of what you can expect from a sharing menu:
Camargue red rice salad with balsamic roasted onions, celery, ginger, sauté leek and chervil
Parma ham with roasted peppers and balsamic
Confit of salmon with vodka dressing and chervil
Honey-roasted ham, slow-cooked in ginger and orange with a mustard glaze
Slow-cooked pork belly with black pudding and runner bean tortellini, roasted apples, crackling and calvados sauce
Rare bavette of beef with watercress puree and deep-fried vermicelli
Poached pear tarte tatin
Oriental pana cotta
And don’t forget the drinks. What about having a signature cocktail created for your special day? Boulevard recently catered the launch of wedding designer Ian Stuart’s flagship store in the iconic Blewcoat building in Victoria – creating a Blewcoat cocktail to mark the occasion! (see previous post)
“It was somehow quite fitting that we catered for a wedding designer’s launch event when Weddings are such an important part of what we do,” added Mark.

We catered the launch party of designer Ian Stuart’s flagship store in the historic Blewcoat building in Victoria last night; his first retail store.
The party was the stage for the launch of a new collection, exclusive to London of ready-to-wear occasion wear, evening wear, red carpet and a selection of bridal gowns to suit all ages and ceremonies. Almost 200 guests partied and we created a special Blewcoat Martini to mark the occasion accompanied by our sumptuous savoury and dessert canapes.
If you’d like to make the Blewcoat Martini here’s how:
½ spiced vodka
½ blue curacao
Squeeze fresh lime
Tea spoon sugar
Shake over ice
Pour into martini glass
Finish with Cava

We were at the fabulous Clissold House on Sunday to help Hilary Gay celebrate her 60th Birthday with 76 of her nearest and dearest. With the sun shining all day and late into the afternoon Clissold House really was the perfect venue with it’s large and plentiful windows and gorgeous park setting. Guests enjoyed champagne and canapés on arrival consisting of: coconut and coriander dhal on a poppadum with green mango, roasted butternut squash with shitake mushroom and lemon and poached pear and Roquefort with red onion marmalade on walnut bread. The below menu was then served before guests danced the night away…
Fennel carpaccio and shallot with lemon oil and dill
Roasted red peppers and courgettes with basil pesto
Grilled asparagus with rocket and balsamic
Pan-seared sea bass with baby spinach and white wine sauce,
Sun-blushed tomato and fete cheese frittata with a white bean puree and lotus root
Mini baked cheese cake
All with an accompaniment of Chantilly cream.
Hilary was kind enough to email us after the event to thank us for our part in making it a special day for her…
“I was delighted with the party and my guests have all been praising the excellent food as well as the great service by your team. I should mention too that my vegan guest was really impressed with her meal.
You all contributed hugely to a super successful birthday party, and helped to make it a pleasure for me too – I couldn’t have wished for anything more!
It goes without saying that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Boulevard Events for a special occasion,”
We are absolutely delighted that we were able to contribute to such a fabulous birthday celebration at such an astonishing venue. Thanks Hilary.

Since returning from the festive break we have been overwhelmed with enquiries for the coming year, many of which are now at the tasting stage and Adam (@guruchefadam) has been a busy boy since returning from his holiday to India. This week he has cooked for three brides and their grooms and two awards organisers. Adam expressed how much he had missed being in the kitchen while he was away and has come back full of enthusiasm, with some amazing new menu ideas for 2014. Some of the highlight dishes of this week have been uploaded to our Instagram and twitter pages (both @Boulevardevents) so feel free to take a look. We are all really excited about 2014 and can’t wait to get our food on the tables of all these wonderful events we have lined up!
Happy belated New Year to all.

Master the menus. Everyone loves a Turkey roast with all the trimmings and we are certainly no exception to that, but everyone has this to look forward to on the 25th… and the 26th and maybe one or two others over the festive period. While it’s important to keep it festive, we think people get their fill of classic Christmas roasts, so be creative with the menus. Find a caterer with a flair for food who can offer some ‘outside the box’ alternatives to those predictable dishes. Dishes like Loin of venison with Chanterelle carrots, roasted salsify and a juniper sauce or Roasted partridge with toasted hazelnuts and a pancetta and wild mushroom ragout finished with a splash of whiskey make for a wonderful alternative to turkey but keep that all-important festive feel.
If you really want to be on-trend in 2013 then there is nothing more popular at the moment than molecular gastronomy. Our Instant-ice cream bar uses crushed dry ice to turn your favourite drinks into the perfect ice cream or sorbet in front of your eyes! Tastes fantastic and will really have jaws dropping to the floor!

We have been all systems go at Boulevard this month, making two appearances at The Troxy, one of our all time favourite venues, as well as Hackney Town Hall, Stone Buildings, The Music Room, Libertine, The Garrod Building and several others. One of the highlights of the month was The Travolution awards on 17th which was a huge success, thank you to Linda at Travel Weekly for your fantastic compliments and congratulations on another fabulous awards evening. The 23rd brought Boulevard’s busiest day of 2013, back at The Troxy for The London Lifestyle Awards for 600 as well as a charity dinner at Hackney Town Hall for 250. Both of which were hugely successful on all fronts and we can’t wait to help make them even more fabulous next year.

We were delighted to cater for John and Vanessa’s Wedding day last month at the gorgeous Clissold House in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception at Stoke Newington Town Hall before strolling through the park in the sunshine for a 3 course dinner courtesy of Adam Neale and his team. Once the dust settled Vanessa and John were kind enough to send us this lovely email:
“Vanessa and I want to just put on record how nice it was dealing with you for your hugely helpful and easy going way of handling all the wedding logistics. Everyone who mentioned the catering and caterers had something nice to say. We thought the food was superb and many people commented on how much they enjoyed the wedding lunch and the buffet … and Vanessa (who is an apple crumble specialist) thought your crumble delicious. So we want to simply thank you for making the organisation much less stressed than it might have been and the day and the event a lovely one for both us and our guests…”
You are most welcome and thank you for letting us be part of your day.

We were delighted to work for the first time with The Museum of London on Tuesday night for Corpcomms Magazine’s annual Digi Awards. The evening started with a Pimms and canapé reception for 250 before guests moved into the Museum’s gorgeous Sackler’s Hall where the main festivities began. The room was decked out with themed stalls serving cuisine from across the capital. Our Brick Lane stall was serving up some delicious Indian wraps, South London was represented by our fresh seafood stall, while over in Camden aka Little Italy our Chefs were live pasta making, before whisking the tortellini off to the kitchen to be cooked and served with a number of other delicious bowl food meals. The night was a resounding success and congratulations to Helen from Corpcomms Magazine for laying on another fabulous awards evening. We look forward to the next one!

It was ‘all hands to the pump’ last week at Boulevard, most of the team clocking up 70+ hours. Thursday in particular saw us lay on 5 events at 5 different venues across London. The day kicked off with 800 boxed meals at the fantastic Troxy. We then laid on an all day buffet, canapé and drinks station with our friends at The Music Room in Mayfair for Blackberry and their celebrity users. Just down the road at Libertine night club Adam and Dan were producing and serving a 3 course Pan-Asian feast for 65 lucky guests. Big sis (Keran) was taking care of our friends at Hackney Town Hall with a canapé and drinks reception for 60, meanwhile 3 Stone Buildings in Holborn was feasting on a gourmet buffet for 20. A relaxed weekend intervened and now it’s back to business! We love it!

We thoroughly enjoyed an all-day conference event at Mayfair’s Music Room yesterday. The Boulevard team served drinks and some delicious finger food for guests of The Skills Show for our first event at this fantastic venue. Now we prepare for another all-day conference on Thursday and a two day conference for Mothercare the following week. We are all really excited about working at The Music Room, long may it continue.

Our Executive chef Adam Neale was on-site at Thomas’s Kensington Preparatory School this morning giving back to the community and passing on some of his expertise to the next generation. By all accounts there were some budding chefs among the class and some excellent sushi on display. A fantastic opportunity to learn from one of London’s top chefs and an entertaining and stimulating experience for all the pupils involved. Nice one Adam!

Boulevard are excited to boast a new in-house wine expert. Daniel completed the 3 week wine course last week top of his class with 86%. He now looks forward to undertaking his level 3 where he will learn to pass a blind tasting exam. Dan is now well placed to recommend bespoke wines for any menu or occasion. A special mention to our friends Jascots wine merchants for running this fantastic course.

The Boulevard team laid on some of our finest canapés on Wednesday night at Camden’s Lock Tavern for the media launch of The Isle of Man festival. Adam’s Rabbit hot-pot went down a storm with The Lovable Rogues who were live on stage giving us a taste of what’s to come this July when The Isle of Man make its long-awaited debut. We were privileged to have been a part of the Just Giving Awards for the second year in a row on Thursday evening. Held at the Troxy, the evening celebrates Britains most inspiring fundraisers and there wasnt a dry eye in the House!
Hopefully Adam’s loin of lamb with daupinoise potatoes did the event justice!

The annual industry exhibition turned 30 this year and the Boulevard team were delighted to be exhibiting for the first time.
Our wall of chocolate treats certainly impressed in both design (thank you Miss Alison Lovett!) and taste and it was an absolute pleasure to see so many faces, both old and new, come over for a chat. We look forward to catching up with you all soon!
